At this juncture, it is naive for any right-winger to try to make distinctions between the private and public sector.
Not only have the lines between major corporations and governments been blurred, but they work in a synergistic manner to maintain the occupational regime’s agenda. Looking at the Second Amendment is rather illustrative.
Over the course of a year, we’ve seen Big Tech already censor gun organizations on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook simply for promoting hunting. As far back as 2018, YouTube began demonetizing and banning channels centered around the promotion of firearms and accessories.
The thought controlling has only ramped up in 2021 after the January 6th storming of the capitol when Facebook prohibited ads for firearms accessories and even took down content featuring “Stop the Steal” language in the lead up to the inauguration of Joe Biden on January 20, 2021. No matter how we cut it, such behavior from social media will not stop.
The fact is that America’s current political system is largely gridlocked. Democrats hold slim majorities in the House and are split evenly in the Senate with Republicans, with Vice President Kamala Harris playing the role of the tie-breaker. There are a number of Senators such as Jon Tester (D-MT), Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Mark Kelly (D-AZ), and Joe Manchin (D-WV) who represent pro-gun states and are known to break from their party on sensitive issues such as gun rights. Even though they are quite socially radical, Jon Ossoff (D-GA) and Raphael Warnock (D-GA) represent a state in Georgia that has a strong pro-gun culture. It not only has a Republican trifecta at the state level, it’s ranked in 11th place for Best States for Gun Owners according to Guns & Ammo magazine’s recent rankings.
All told, gun control boosters will have a tough time passing gun control via legislative means. However, they still have the soft power alternative of Big Tech deplatforming and potential denial of services from major corporations.
The battles of the future will be unconventional in nature and require unique approaches to fighting back against novel threats. Censorship resistant technologies such as Bitcoin and related cryptocurrencies will likely play a major role in helping content creators and organizations on the Right make a living during the present kulturkampf.
Make no mistake about it, the present order is hostile to dissent and is centered on shutting down all forms of dissident discourse. Adaptation is of the essence. For if the Right does not figure out a way to survive during this era of full-spectrum censorship, perpetual irrelevance awaits it.
