The Populist Takeover of the GOP
Gaetz, Greene, Boebert and Gohmert are all the names you need to know to understand the current state of the anti-establishment wing of the GOP. Gone are the Liberty Caucus, who claimed to represent the everyday men and women of the working class who showed their true colors when it came to choosing between freedom and simply being anti-Trump. Gone are the Tea Party types who snuggled to the Koch brothers as their constituent’s jobs were replaced by economic migrants or outsourced.
This wing is economically populist and going to bat within the federal GOP, but this is simply a lagging indicator of the new conservative mindset among real working people.
What does this mean? Gone are the Buckley conservatives preaching about Friedman and wearing bow ties at CPAC. In are the gun toting, pickup driving, UFC watching demographic who are leaving the couch to go vote in non-presidential year elections and finally paying attention to who is on their local school board. The “non-political” conservatives are waking up, and in states like Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, the right candidates reaching these people where they are can change the tide come 2024. Similarly, states such as Nevada are even trending red.
But what does all of this actually mean though? This means, if the populist message is driven hard and hustled harder, that 40+ million working class men and women who are the prime demographic can toss out the neoconservatives from the GOP as well as kick Biden and Harris to the curb in less than one full election cycle.
The momentum is here and thanks to the inroads the 2020 Trump campaign made within the hispanic community, populist republicans who are pro-capitalism and pro-family can ignore the waning influence of college educated “woke” whites in the suburbs who vote Democrat out of social pressure, and instead build stronger relationships with Tejanos who are seeing their borders overrun by illegal aliens, economic migrants, and cartels.
We already have seen Latinos in Florida reject woke-marxism, the movement can continue across communities across the nation if the message is authentic and bold. Essentially, no more George W. Bush style “hispandering.” When you make a promise, follow through or you will lose all progress in an instant.
Populism will protect the Constitution, protect families from those intent on harming children, and protect our nation from outside forces attempting to change the makeup of the country away from individual freedom and towards collectivism.
