Can the United States still be trusted on the world stage?
If you want to predict the next big decisions the United States will make on the world stage, it is probably better to pick up and ask a magic 8-ball than anyone inside the administration.
With the Iran nuclear deal hanging in a diplomatic limbo, sensible people must start asking whether the United States or Iran have anything left to talk about. If anything, what is keeping other countries continuing to do work with the US?

All these facets of US politics have one common denominator and that's high levels of irrational volatility.
It’s abundantly clear that Iran is looking eastward to secure its economic and military fortunes with Eurasian juggernauts like China and Russia will. Its acceptance into the Shanghai Cooperation Organization offers a look into what Iran’s new strategy will look like.
The US government is “agreement incapable” and has built a nasty reputation for going back on its diplomatic agreements as evidenced by the Trump administration’s decision to scrap the JCPOA and subsequent escalation of tensions.
Coupled with the US’s increasing levels of domestic instability, other countries would be wise to reconsider dealing with the US. Sober-minded countries would be thinking twice about dealing with such a flakey, erratic, and trigger-happy government like the US that has destabilized the Middle East and is fueling a nasty proxy war between Russia and Ukraine.
Countries will now be forming their own pacts with others which hold mutual animosity with the US and its western cronies.
These newly-formed pacts could dish out major damage to the US should it decide to overextend itself, especially with the US trying to pursue a policy of dual containment against Russia and China.
An America First foreign policy would encourage other nations to work with us because they want to, because they trust we’re acting in a way which benefits our own citizens and can even benefit theirs.
America First inspires respect through confidence, not through constant threats.
