Something To Be Thankful For In 2022
Someone once said “it’s easy to pray when times are tough, and hard to pray when times are good.” This year, like every year, I’ve prayed for some big things. I’ve prayed for our nation to change the course we’re on, I’ve prayed for good men to be protected from evil doers, I’ve prayed for the children of this land to get the chance to grow up in an era like the one I was a child in.
There are no “innocent” periods of time. Nostalgia is a drug which creates an idol of the past but without any of its flaws. I’m not going to say that the 90’s were an ideal era, but wow, they look outright desirable compared to the state the world is in now.
So what is there to be thankful for? What is there to keep us going? Should we even pause? Should we even do any reflection this Thanksgiving?

The answer should be as obvious this year and every year. Yes, give thanks that we live in this beautiful, flawed country, where I can write the things I do and you have the freedom to read (or not read them). I’m thankful that everyday, tough men go to work to create the society we live in now.
Our homes today are what kings hundreds of years ago would be in awe of. We don’t have open war in our streets. We can go to any grocery store now and find food.
America is flawed, but we are blessed to have been born here. We can’t ever let our problems overshadow our blessings.
My prayer for your family is that you have those who can comfort you, those who can encourage you, those to carry you when you falter, and those to work with you when the challenges in life become too large for one person to carry.
For the soldiers in the trenches, the men maintaining our sewers, the mothers raising children, and all people who have to work an honest days work, I pray for your health, wealth, and safety. You keep this nation going.
